The existing corridors were raw brick and slightly narrow. However, it was improving on the poor lighting that was a key aspect of the project. We were hired to redesign the corridors by bringing more space and light to them. This was achieved by opening them up, hiding the darkening red brick work and replacing it with smooth, brilliant white walling. The space was filled with light by replacing the dark timber doors and windows with large, bright aluminium frames, which provided a greater window area. We also replaced the old fluorescent tube lighting with a system of broad, bright downlighting.
